TRANSPLANT TEAM
Prof. Fazal Niazi
FCPS Urology
Prof. Fazal Niazi is the lead urologist and transplant Surgeon spearheading a team of three
surgeons during transplant surgery. He has successfully performed nearly 1000 kidney
transplants over last 20 years with excellent results. He is currently serving as a Professor and
head of Urology at Shaikh Zayed Post graduate Medical Institute and a visiting urologist at
Farooq Hospital Westwood Branch.
Prof. Waseem Asmat
Prof. Waseem is the lead anesthesiologist with several decades of work experience including
managing anesthesia of several hundred kidney transplant surgeries. He is currently serving
as a Professor of Anesthesia at Akhtar Saeed Medical College and a consultant
Anesthesiologist at Farooq Hospital Westwood Branch.
Prof. Salman Tahir Shafi
Diplomat American Board of Internal Medicine and Nephrology
Prof. Salman Tahir Shafi has over 15 years of work experience as a consultant Nephrologist
both in USA and Pakistan including management of kidney transplant patients. He is currently
serving as a Professor of Nephrology at Akhtar Saeed Medical College and a consultant
nephrologist at Farooq Hospital Westwood Branch.
Mr. Afzal Hussain
Transplant Coordinator
Mr. Afzal Hussain serves as a focal person during pre-transplant evaluation, coordination of
appointments, completion of paperwork and approval of kidney transplant by PHOTA.
